I know things are tight for everyone - but please, if you can help out even a bit, please do.
I'm taking the liberty of posting her e-mail on my blog, as she asks that people pass it to their friends.

..........
Hello everyone. I know that I haven’t seen a lot of you in a long time, but my family is in a desperate situation. This letter is a plea for help. You see, my son, Chuck Campbell, has very severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Chuck is only 44 years old, married, and has three minor children living at home. He is in desperate need of a DOUBLE lung transplant in order to save his life. His doctors have no idea how long he can survive without the transplant, but Chuck currently has only 20% of his lung capacity!
Chuck is a very special, giving and loving, son. He has a fabulous sense of humor and love of life. Most importantly, he is also a wonderful father to all four of his children. He has dedicated his life to getting his kids through college. He needs to stay alive long enough to finish the job --- and, hopefully, many years longer.
The national average cost for this operation is a whopping Half-Million Dollars! Chuck’s medical insurance coverage is many thousands of dollars short! Hence, this plea to all of you.
Our fundraising efforts are being administered by the National Transplant Assistance Fund, a non-profit organization that helps people like Chuck by ensuring that donations are used for transplant-related expenses ONLY. All donations made directly to the transplant fund are tax deductible.
Of course we sincerely appreciate any amount that you feel you can give. What I REALLY need is for many of you to dig deep and come up with around $100. That is a lot of money, but Chuck’s life is worth much more. If the situation is reversed and you need help, I promise I’ll be there for you. I know that times are tough. If you can come up with even a few dollars, that will be a big help and our family will be forever indebted to you. The more donations we get, the sooner we can get this transplant for Chuck!
Whatever you can donate, please be sure to do so through Chuck Campbell’s patient web page link (below) so that your donation goes directly to his personal fundraising account. You can also donate by check; or you may call NTAF at (800) 642-8399.
If you feel comfortable doing so, PLEASE pass this to others on your own email address list. We need to reach as many people as we can in this desperate time.
You can see Chuck’s web page to read his profile and/or make a donation by visiting http://www.transplantfund.org/restricted/patient-detail.cfm?pat_id=2727. Whether or not you can donate, please sign the guest book.
I send a very sincere THANK YOU to all of you, and MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Your Very Grateful Friend,
Mary MacKinnon (M.O.M.)
