The Garden

Constantly a work-in-progress, I love to work in the garden
and seeing it become more beautiful with each passing season.

Front of the House

This little bed is on the side of my house.  I planted 36 red tulips in the ground around the pot, in front of the sun lily, and in the pot itself.  Most tulips have to be replanted every year, so this is a temporary way to fill in this bed until the evergreen on the left reaches the laurel hedge on the right.  I'll probably have to move the lily in a few years, too.

An update with the enlarging hosta and yew plants in the front of the house.  Eventually I want to buy five or so different copper planters for this shelf and plant with neat things.  The pots are anywhere from $15+ so I haven't done it yet.  I love my hydraulic hose real that is tucked behind the pollar, though.

The front evergreen tree is right in the center.  It is not about 16 feet high.  The little tulip bed is right to the right of it.  The smoke tree is about 8 feet high.

The front right side of the house has evergreens that were seriously in need of water.  They've come back a bit after my removal of all that ivy a couple of years ago.  I put in soaker lines this year and it's helped immensely.  I transplanted my Japanese Maple from it's pot to in front of the pine.  It's blending in but you can see the trunk directly to the left of the right blue pot.  There is also a Dusty Miller, a Lily of the Valley, Hydrangea, Rhododendron, Diablo, and of course...

My favorite red Dahlia:

I only have one hanging pot at my house.  It had three different hanging plants but the dusty one has really taken off.  The fushia is hanging on, though!

This tree Victoria is standing in front of was transplanted.  You can see it almost at the bottom of the page.  It's about 10' tall, Summer 2006.

This little juniper gets lots of extra water and still needs more.  Summer 2006.

Back Yard

This back bed has had a lot added to it this summer.  Many irises!  I also planted 221 bulbs throughout these corner beds for a hopeful great showing in spring.

More to the left.  I painted the birdhouse.  The vine growing on the fence behind is a climbing hydrangea that can apparently get 60' long.  I'm going to train it down the length of the fence.  It climbs with aerial roots.  The variagated Dogwood tree right in the center is supposed to get 15' tall but it is the slowest growing tree I have ever seen.  Lazy thing.

The plants are getting bigger!  Endless Summer Hydrangea.  Summer 2006

I will move this Rhody this fall.  Too much sun in its little corner.
