The Silver Needle Secret Needle Nights.

These limited edition designs are designed by a variety of designers, and are only available for one month.  I watch eBay for retired patterns.  Linda Stolz has designed the majority of the ones I've stitched, so they are also on my Linda Stolz designer page. 

I stitched this in June 2006, but didn't do the finishing until September 2006.  The quilt block on the back is called Mariner's Compass.

 

"Mom's Stew"

This is the September 2001 Secret Needle Night design from the Silver Needle Shop, designed by Natalie Legener and The Silver Needle Gals.  The fabric is 10-count Tula, and the threads are overdyed floss, Rainbow Gallery Fyre Werks, Fuzzy Stuff, and Alpaca.  The candy corn is rachel tubular nylon thread.  A cute little ceramic frog is perched on the cauldron!

This was my "car project" for several months.  I worked on it when I had a few minutes to spare in the car while waiting for my daughter at preschool, or on longer car trips to B.C.  I can't really tell how long I spent on it.  It was stitched in December 2004 - February 2005.  I


"Halloween Hat"
This is the September 2002 Secret Needle Night design from the Silver Needle Shop.  Designed by Linda Stolz.  A friend stitched the kit, and gave me the pattern to stitch again.  Therefore, there are some small color changes to the design.  The fabric is Days Gone By Tula from Silkweavers.  The gold thread is Rainbow Gallery Nordic Gold.  The copper thread is DMC copper metallic.  The black is Rainbow Gallery Very Velvet Thread.  The green is Sheep's Silk in Spring Green from The Thread Gatherer.  The purple called for in the pattern is a Fyre Werks F44 from Rainbow Gallery.  I started the brim of the hat in that, and then ran out.  I found out that color was discontinued, so I used DMC purple metallic to finish out the brim.  That thread is a total pain to work with, so I stitched the top of the hat with YLI's ribbon floss metallic, which turned out to be almost exactly like the original Fyre Werks!  I'm fine with the color change - it's a Halloween Design after all.  :)  I figure the witch would have made her own costume. 

This design took me about six hours to stitch, which is a long time because of the metallic threads.  I started it in October 2004, but only did a bit on the brim.  I stitched the rest of it on February 3rd, 2005. 


"Patch Pals"
I stitched this sometime in 2001. I just photographed it because I found it in my Halloween Box. :) It's a Secret Needle Night Kit from the Silver Needle Shop.  Designed by Linda Stolz.  

 

"More Sweets to Die For"
This heart is from the Secret Needle Night kit for January 2003. Designed by Linda Stolz.   I stitched this on 25-count Ash Rose Lugana fabric from Zweigart. The threads are DMC Pearl Cotton, DMC gold metallic, Rainbow Gallery silk threads, and Rainbow Gallery FyreWerks Metallic. It's accented with a little rise button from Just Another Button Company. I stitched this on May 30th, 2004, while watching three episodes of the Soprano's. :) 

"All My Love To You"
This heart is from the Secret Needle Night kit for January 2004. Designed by Linda Stolz.  Originally there was test to the side that said "All my Love to You". However, I left that off. :) I also changed the fibers a bit to show up on the fabric, which is "Pepe's Purple Passion" from R & R Reproductions. The threads are Caron "Snow" in gold, Caron Wildflowers in "Ruby", Rainbow Gallery Black Very Velvet Thread, and a green and a red overdyed Sheep's Silk from The Thread Gatherer. It's a bit darker than in this picture, and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out! 

"Let it Snow"
This is the Secret Needle Night pattern for November 2003. Designed by Linda Stolz.  I thought it was very sweet! It's stitched in a combination of Ranbow Gallery and Thread Gatherer threads, on 20-count linen over two. This is finished into a stand-up box for my mom. 
 

"Luck O The Irish"
Another Secret Needle Night project from The Silver Needle. Designed by Linda Stolz.  Uses Very Velvet thread, as well as other specialty fibers. Accented with buttons from Just Another Button Company and By Jupiter charms. 

"Silver Needle Secret Needle Night July 2000"
Another Secret Needle Night project from The Silver Needle. Designed by Linda Stolz.  Uses Very Velvet thread, as well as other specialty fibers. Accented with buttons from Just Another Button Company. I finished it into a miniature stocking. 

"Silver Needle Secret Needle Night June 2003"
This design is stitched in Weeks Dye Works Pearl Cotton, Rainbow Gallery Fuzzy Stuff and Silk 'N Ivory, as well as plain DMC Pearl Cotton. It is on 10-Tula fabric. I finished it into a 14" pillow.  Designed by Linda Stolz.
